Jaaku sighed as he eased into his seat. It had been a long day, and for him it seemed to be just beginning. Thankfully, he'd gotten to the classroom earlier than usual because starting this semester, his last class would be free study. He was supposed to be in the library for it, but the atmosphere and general layout of the classroom for the host club just... calmed him more. Plus there was an espresso machine. Not that the first years knew how to appreciate something as precious as the espresso machine. Half of them didn't even like coffee. Heathens. He shook his head, sipping on his latte as he tried to focus on his homework. Schooling was never his strong point, but he did enough to keep his grades high enough. For what he wasn't sure. Maybe being abandoned at birth and cursed was means for good college scholarships, but otherwise he wasn't really planning to go to college. People that needed to work to make a living didn't really go to college. He put his pencil down and held his latte, using the warmth of the cup to warm his hands. He couldn't focus, he was too tired. Maybe with the caffeine spike he'd be able to focus on his homework better. He stared out the window, watching as the snow outside fell silently, blanketing the earth white. It was a peaceful sort of day, he supposed, though it had just seemed hectic, considering his "day" was going onto it's 32nd hour. No wonder he was exhausted. He still had to work and finish homework. He debated for just a second skipping the host club for one day, but instantly decided against the idea; this was the one place he could feel like he belonged somewhere, even if a lot of it was based off looks and lies.

The school day couldn't possibly go any slower for Aimi as it was going right now. As it was, she'd pretty much stopped paying attention early on in the day, which meant she would probably struggle on her homework later, as usual. She couldn't help it though, school was boring and she didn't understand half of what was taught anyway. The only motivation for her going was the Host Club. Even though she wasn't an official member she still hung around every day, and they hadn't kicked her out yet.
A quick glance at her twin showed her Yuuta was sleeping. Aimi sighed, sinking in her chair and doodling on her paper. The only thing the two shared in common was their dislike of school. She wondered sometimes if they were actually related.
"...any questions feel free to ask. See you all tomorrow." Aimi managed to catch the last of the teachers words. Not that it mattered. She quickly grabbed her bag and papers, anxious to head to the Host Club.
Aimi was a bit surprised when she walked into the room to see someone was already here. "Ahh, senpai." She hummed lightly when she noticed who it was. She went to the desk near the corner, dropping her bag to the ground. "You're here really early."

Jaaku looked towards the source of the voice, one hand gently placing the latte back down on the table. "Oh... Kohai." He stated simply, turning back around and facing the table again. He traced the edges of his cup lid lightly. "Starting this semester, I have a free last period." He explained simply. "Since this class has gym last, it's easy to come here early." He explained simply.

"Oh that's cool." Aimi quipped, sliding easily into the chair. She dug her math homework out of her bag, staring at it for a few seconds before deciding it was too complicated and instead sticking the end of her pencil into her mouth. "You know," She started, turning to look back at him. "I've been coming here every day and I don't think we've actually really talked." Of course she knew all about the "tsundere prince" of the Host Club, but there were only a few members that she talked to regularly, the president being one of them. Their friendship was the reason, she assumed, that she was allowed to come even though she wasn't an actually Hostess and she wasn't a guest either. "I'm Tsukino Aimi."

Jaaku raised an eyebrow in feigned interest. He'd seen her around, though apparently despite coming here almost every day, she wasn't actually a member of the club. According to the club president, she was an old friend or just a friend or something or other. He blinked slowly as he looked her up and down, as if trying to place her better. She was a year younger than him, he believed. The 'sempai' would make sense in that case. He twirled his pencil around in his hand. If he wanted to function tomorrow, he had to get a good night's sleep tonight; he was starting to feel the effects of being awake for 30+ hours. He brought his cup up to his lips, "Maki Jaaku." He said finally before taking a sip of his latte.

Aimi was digging in her bag for a snack she was sure she'd thrown in there earlier, letting out a please "ahh!" when she finally found the chocolate bar. She unwrapped it, pausing only when he told her his name. "Jaaku?" She asked, a frown on her face. Why would his parents name him something like that? Sure he was a little bit scary but that didn't warrant a name like that. "Hmm." She hummed, looking down at her paper. She began doodling, writing down "Aku" and snorting when she realized what the kanji for that meant. She quickly scratched it out, looking back at him. "I'm sorry. I don't like your name very much." She said, tapping her pencil against her chin. "How about I call you Ja-sempai for now, til we can think of something better hm?" She broke off a piece of her chocolate, holding it out to him with a smile. "Want some?" She asked cutely.

Jaaku raised an eyebrow, huffing a sharp breath from his nose, his shoulder jerking like he laughed slightly. You think I do? He thought, though he just nibbled the edge of his cup lid before taking another sip of his drink. "Whatever." He said simply. He looked to the chocolate in her hands. It wasn't that he didn't like chocolate, he actually loved the stuff, but he rarely actually ate it. Still, he hesitantly took the piece, setting his cup back down on the table at the same time, bringing the piece to his mouth, nibbling on a corner as if it was possibly poisoned or something.

"The alternative is aku-senpai." She said, holding up her notebook with the kanji still written on it, though it was kinda hard to see due to her scribbling on it. "Though I don't think it'd go over so well if I went around calling you that." She said with a giggle. She broke off another piece of the chocolate, this time taking a bite of it herself. She looked over at Jaaku, rolling her eyes with another laugh. "It's chocolate, it's not going to hurt you." She placed her notebook back on the desk, drawing lazy circles on it.

Jaaku made a disgruntled face, "Why'd you write my name down?" He asked. He shook his head, "You got the kanji wrong anyway." He told her, making another face at the kanji she used. He wrote down the kanji for his name under where she had scribbled it out. "Anything else is weird." He said, though he had to admit his name wasn't necessarily normal. He continued to nibble at the chocolate, shrugging in response to her comment, "It's sweeter than I'm used to."

"Because I wanted to." Aimi said with a pout. She crossed her legs at the knee, swinging it lightly. She looked at him, and then at the paper, making a slightly shocked face. "Oh, you're right. Whoops." She giggled lightly, taking another bite of the chocolate. She smiled lightly, digging in her bag until she found another chocolate bar. In the back of her mind she realized it was probably strange that she carried around so many sweets, but she assumed that if he saw her around enough he'd already know about her love of sweets, and her need to have them. "Want this instead? It's dark chocolate, not as sweet."

Jaaku stared at the newly emerged chocolate bar like she had told him it came from outer space. Finally, he shook his head, finishing off the bit of chocolate she had already offered him before wiping his hands on his pants and returning to holding his latte. "No thanks." He finally said, clearing his throat. He looked back to his homework and sighed. "Do you want a coffee drink? I can make one for you." He offered. He pointed towards the espresso machine. "We have mocha, too. If you like chocolate that much..."

Aimi blinked at him before shrugging, placing the chocolate bar on her desk and chewing on the rest of the one she'd already opened. She briefly wondered if any of her regulars would bring her something today. One had promised to being her cake and she was looking forward to it. "Coffee? I don't mind as long as it's sweet." She answered, uncrossing her legs and bouncing them lightly. She watched him curiously before saying, "Sempai?" She said around a mouthful of chocolate. "Do you mind if I ask you a question?"

Jaaku nodded, standing up and walking towards the espresso machine, getting milk and espresso ready. He tilted his head towards her, a small "hmm?" escaping from his throat, but otherwise made no move to prove he'd heard her. He steamed the milk, letting the shots pour as he spread the mocha sauce all throughout the cup. He could probably do this in his sleep by now, hell, half the time he probably did, considering how tired he always was.

"Why did you join the Host Club?" Aimi unwrapped the second bar, still drawing lazy circles on what was supposed to be her math homework. "Not that you aren't amazing and the girls don't totally adore you. You just don't seem like someone who'd have this as their first choice in clubs."

Jaaku paused only for a second, pouring the milk and mixing the drink before creating a latte-art leaf as he debated his answer. Lying would make it simple, less chance of garnering pity. But a part of him was almost surprised, the only person he'd ever told the truth to was the president of the club, and with how close the two apparently were, he was a bit shocked the president hadn't told her why. He was sure many people questioned his motives for joining the club. Questioned what he felt he gained from it. He shrugged finally, bringing the drink over to her before circling a finger around his own mug, not looking at her. "I guess... I mean for starters, I don't have any skills. I like looking at art and listening to music, but I can't draw or play an instrument and I'm mostly tone deaf. I'm not big on sports, though I do know Jiujitsu moves from YouTube." He smiled, and it was almost bittersweet, but it also made him more attractive. The smile faded quickly, however, " I guess I saw how much this club was like a family, it just kind of... drew me in." He answered finally.
