Hou Daiki
|
PERSONALITY
Daiki is, for the most part, calm, happy-go-lucky, mature, and on occasion, perverted. He like to play around with words and he'll make bad jokes just to get a laugh out of someone. He's only 18, but he plans well for his future, and he looks both at the intricate details and bigger pictures of things. Some people will joke he'd make a good businessman, but he finds that idea so mundane. Although he doesn't know exactly what he wants to do, it's definitely something that will steer clear of business.
On occasion, he will go through a depressive streak, typically on the anniversaries of his parent's deaths, or when something reminds him of them. His hardships, however, had given him the ability to adapt to almost any personality, hence why he can befriend the preppiest girls to the darkest of peopleJaaku. He's rather empathetic towards others, even if he doesn't always seem as such, and he's been guilty more than once of leaving a favorite treat or what-have-you when he noticed someone he cares for is upset.

HISTORY
Daiki was born in Seoul, South Korea to a Korean mother and Japanese father. He spent a lot of his very young childhood going back and forth between the two countries, and was looking to be bilingual. But then tragedy struck the family, and his mother died prematurely from cancer. Daiki and his father moved back to his hometown of Aomori, but Daiki couldn't adapt well. The only thing keeping him grounded was making a friend in Aimi Tsukino. She was a girl in his class and somehow he instantly bonded to her.
Still, their friendship, and his eminent crush on her, didn't stop him from leaping at the chance to study abroad in Korea for middle school. Although his dad never adapted to Korean life, Daiki was still having a hard time adapting to Japanese life. However, fate is cruel, and while he was in Korea, his father passed away after catching pneumonia. He returned to Aomori with crushed dreams, not really feeling like he belonged anywhere. But Aimi's mother's embrace was warm, and her father's support kind, and her brother... well, the only thing stopping them from being actual brothers is blood. Which made it a bit strange when Yuuta found out (and was sworn to secrecy) about Daiki's crush on Aimi.
Nowadays, Daiki's life isn't necessarily spiraling anymore. He's well-rounded, looking into some top universities, and is president of the host club (and one of the most popular). When he's not at school, he does work on the weekends part-time, preparing for when he moves out of the house, and he also enjoys spending time in a small Korean district in a nearby town. He enjoys coffee shops, which is where he officially met Jaaku, and he also spends a lot of time in school people watching, if anything for recruitment to the club. A part of him wants to somehow stay in Aomori, because he's grown to view the host club as close friends and family, and he's sad to be having to give up the spot of president once school gets out.
