TEACHER
Tsubasa Chiba
|
PERSONALITY
Tsubasa is pretty up front, but that's not what he's known for. Besides being 'the attractive teacher,' he's known for his kind and approachable personality. Many third years that had him as a first year student will happily stop by to say hi to him, and he welcomes anyone, even if they aren't in his class. He doesn't even have to be strict with his class, so when his calm anger does happen for any reason, it can resonate throughout the classroom and chill students to the bone. His personality isn't much different outside of class. He truly feels freer in Aomori, and everything from the light smile always stuck on his face to his relaxed posture, to his friendly and bubbly personality reflects that.
Tsubasa is a bit mischievous as well, however. He will play around to get his way, but it's mostly with potential love interests. He gotten close enough to some of his coworkers that his playful attitude will surface, but he tries to hide his more playful side in front of his classes.

HISTORY
Tsubasa was born in Tokyo, Japan, preceded by three older sisters. He was the "little prince" of the family, especially so after his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and had to get a hysterectomy and therefore would not be able to have any more kids.
He grew up living a fairly normal life, until he reached puberty. He had always felt like something was 'off' about him. It wasn't until he by chance talked to one of his uncles, his father's brother who lived in Aomori. His uncle, as it turned out, was shunned from the family for the most part, Tsubasa's father the only one to really talk to him, for being gay. It was a life changing conversation, because as Tsubasa inquired more and more about it, he realized he was the same. Without hinting as to why, he begged his parents to let him study in Aomori for high school.
Eventually his parents obliged, and Tsubasa ended up moving in with his uncle during winter break before he started high school. Living with his uncle, he felt freer than he'd ever felt before, able to be himself in a way he had never known. He also got to watch a love between his uncle and his uncle's boyfriend blossom, witnessing a homosexual relationship (obviously they kept the PG-13+ things away from his young eyes) without the tv tropes to get into the way. It was magical for him, he wanted to experience it for himself.
Tsubasa entered high school at Aomori high school and instantly began to be fawned over. His natural beauty mixed with his sister's dressing him up all through childhood led to an instant bishounen, or pretty boy. He would play-flirt with the girls, but was too scared to actually admit he'd never love any of them. A new manga series that had surfaced recently, Ouran High School Host Club, gave him an idea. He recruited some of the most popular boys of the school, and made the suggestion the form a host club of their own. After assuring the principal it wasn't as sketchy as "those Tokyo clubs," they were finally granted hesitant permission to form the club. Tsubasa became president of the club, and as they say, the rest is history.
However, for him, it didn't end happily. as in his last year of high school, a huge scandal broke out among the students after someone began spreading the nasty rumor that they had seen Tsubasa kissing a guy before going into a love motel the night before. Tsubasa was more embarrassed than furious, it had been true. Although he tried to protest against the rumors, eventually he ended up kicked out of the host club, and it almost disbanded after rumor after senseless rumor began pouring from the student's lips. Tsubasa eventually saved it from utter destruction during his graduation speech, promoting equality, mentioning how he had started the club for everyone to have a chance to relax in between school, cram school, and other activities. He didn't start it to 'get with' girls, he didn't start it to lie, he didn't start it to get with guys, simply as a way to have fun in the stressful life that was the Japanese high schooler.
He left for Tokyo to go to college. He decided to become a teacher, originally planning to become a kindergarten teacher. Two out of three of his sisters had gotten married, and his oldest sister was expecting her second child, while his middle sister had given the family a cute, sweet young boy, and he loved those kids as if they were his own. Whether it was his mentality or reality, Tsubasa returned to feeling stifled in the Tokyo environment. Still, he attempted to persist, garnering a job at a preschool-kindergarten combination school. He lasted all of one day before he was fired, however, as the principal had responded to his personal ad and was too embarrassed to talk it out or accept any promise of silence from Tsubasa.
Tsubasa finally returned to Aomori about five years ago, after collecting some credentials, and is now teaching high school. Being back at his old high school was strange to him at first, but eventually the familiarity struck a chord with him. He teaches the 1-B class, and is consistently wondering if kids are getting smaller or if he's getting older. He really hopes it the prior, though. Some of the teachers who remembered him were originally a bit apprehensive, but being able to be somewhere where he's already out among his coworkers is more of a relief than a strain. He's also much more careful about his personal ads.
