Aimi fell onto her back, groaning frustrated. Her notebook and math work were scattered on the grass next to her. She wasn't very good at school, but math was her especially weak point. Her first thought had been to go to Yuuta for help, because while he didn't care for school and didn't do much better than she did, he was at least better at math than her. But he'd refused, telling her to "just go ask Daiki-sempai instead." To which she'd whined, "Onii-chaaaan." As soon as her cheeks turned red Yuuta knew exactly why she didn't want to ask. He announced that he would ask him for her and before she could protest he was gone.
Now she lay on the grass, regretting not having asked for help. She wasn't sure if Yuuta actually asked Daiki for her, but he hadn't brought it up so she assumed not. And since she wasn't officially a member of the Host Club she'd skipped club activities for today to try and focus on her work so she wouldn't fail out. But Aimi had been sitting outside working on her homework for the better part of an hour and she only managed to finish one problem. She was getting absolutely no where, and she'd be out here all night at this rate. With another groan Aimi rolled onto her stomach, burying her face with her arms and sighing.

Daiki scratched the back of his head as he looked to the girl laying on the grass. He made a face as he went over to her, tapping one of his textbooks against the top of her head lightly, crouching next to her. "Yah, you're going to get grass stains on your uniform. You know your mom hates cleaning that." He scolded her lightly. He set his books down, looking at her homework. "Yuuta-kun says you were having trouble with the math work.... still?" He asked, then tsked, shaking his head as he wrapped his arms around his legs, seeming content to stay crouching for now. He sometimes felt like he went over the top with treating her like a little sister, but a part of him was worried if he did anything less, she realize his crush on him. It was bad enough Yuuta always asked her to come to him instead of her own brother, but to remain uninvolved in simple things like her homework was another thing all together. He had been pulled aside on his way to the club, and he managed to find the vice president and ask him to take over for a bit. "Come to the club, I can help you there. Or just wait until we get home." He suggested, though he set his books down, making it seem like he was planning to stay there with her.

Aimi had started to doze off when she felt something against her head, and then Daiki's voice scolding her. She lifted her head, pouting at him though she sat up anyway, brushing her hair out of her face. "I don't do it all the time." She humphed, though he was right. Her mother was very particular about things, and unnecessary stains on clothing was one of them. She looked down to examine her skirt, though the action was more so to hide the blush that was threatening to stain her cheeks. "Onii talked to you then? I told him not to do that." She muttered the last part, a slight frown on her lips.
She picked at a blade of grass, refusing to look at him until the heat in her cheeks went away. "I came out here because the Club distracts me too much." And she'd be far less inclined to do her work when the comfort of her bed screamed at her at home. "You don't have to miss club to help me. I'll figure it out eventually. Or make Onii-chan help me." Aimi looked up at him then, though it was only for a moment and then her gaze fell on her mathwork.

Daiki smiled and nodded, raising an eyebrow, "Enough for your mother to get upset about it." He told her simply. He nodded to her first question, somewhat curious why she didn't want his help. Still, he didn't linger on the thought, instead shaking his head for a second before leaning back so he could sit down. "Nope. I'll help you out." He told her, trying to keep his cheeks from turning red. He hid them behind his hands, attempting to seem casual about it by looking like he was just resting his head in his hands. "You need to get better grades, so we can go to the same college, too, okay?" He told her with a smile. I can't lose you yet.

"But you're sitting on the grass too! Now she's going to be mad at both of us!" Aimi said, covering her mouth with her hand to hide her giggles. "Maybe we should get Onii to come out here and sit on the grass too. She can't be mad at all of us."
She let out a soft huff, gathering her homework from where the wind had blown it. It wasn't very far, but it was enough to distract her from the way her heart was trying to beat out of her chest. Part of her wanted to believe that he actually wanted her to go to the same college as him, that he liked having her around. But the more rational part knew he was only saying it to be nice. "I wouldn't keep my hopes up if I were you." She muttered, busying herself with organizing her papers. "You have a better chance of Onii-chan going with you." She'd meant to say it lightly, as a joke, but the words hit way too close to home. College had never really been something she considered, even if her parents wanted her to go. She wasn't smart enough for college, barely enough for high school.
Aimi let out a tiny sigh, almost inaudible, and forced a smile on her face, holding out the problems to him. "I think I can figure out most of them but I've been stuck on this one for a while." She said, pointing out a few of the problems she'd been having troubles with.

Daiki smiled softly, his laugh pure as he wiped off the knees of his pants. "She'll just have to get mad at both of us, then." He told her playfully. His smile faltered though as she continued talking. "Eyyy," He said lowly with a smack of his lips, a habit he picked up from Korean more than Japan, "You can get in to college, I know you can, if you study hard enough. I don't know many places in the world where you can get a good job without a degree anymore." He scolded her, though it was neither harsh nor actually in a scolding tone. He leaned closer to see the problem better, nodding as he read through it. "This one's tricky." He agreed, sliding the book slightly so he could see it better. "Ah, I can see where you got stuck." He said, looking between her book and her notebook. He pointed to one of the numbers, "this needs to be divided, and then it's added to that letter." He set the book back down with a sigh, "honestly, math was so much easier before English became a part of it." He joked lightly.

Aimi sighed lightly, picking at a blade of grass. She was glad Daiki believed in her so much but she felt the belief was misplaced. She would have to study day and night to make it in. And that wasn't including actually trying to keep her grades up while in college. The thought was enough to stress her out.
"Oh." Aimi pouted, ripping the grass blade she had in half. She felt really stupid, Daiki made it seem really east it bothered her that she had such a hard time with it. "How are you so good at this?" She humped, digging in her bag for a bottle of soda she'd stuck in there this morning before attempting the problem once again.

Daiki lowered his head, placing his folding hands in front of his lips, tapping against them lightly as he went quiet. He knew schooling was a sore subject for her, and it didn't help that he and Yuuta were such good students. He sighed, wishing he could help her more than occasional tutoring. Still, he smiled softly at Aimi's question, "Some people have a knack for memorizing, like math, and others are better at more artsy things. Maybe after high school, you can become an apprentice baker. I'm sure that still happens places, and you can learn to make all those sweets you enjoy." He told her, teasing only slightly because a lot of the people that visited the host club for her brought her sweets.

Aimi let out a forced breath through her nose, chewing on her bottom lip to try and keep the frown from forming. As much as she loved cooking, and eating what she made, she wasn't sure she'd be good enough to be someone's apprentice, let alone make a career out of it. "Maybe..." She murmured. A tiny smile formed on her lips when she was able to answer the next two questions without any help from Daiki, but it faltered when she came on another hard one and she hesitated, letting out a frustrated huff. "What do you want to study in college Daiki-kun?" She asked in an attempt to hide her slowly growing anger over the fact that she couldn't get through her homework on her own.

Daiki thought for a moment, not really sure. He just knew he should go to college, but for what he wasn't sure. "Business, maybe?" He said, still unsure. He nodded, more reassuredly. "Mmm, maybe business. Then, once you've become an accomplished baker, we can open a bakery." He said jokingly, though a part of him meant it. The potential to spend the rest of his life with her, to not have to leave her, it was what he truly wanted, but to break up their friendship was too daunting to him.

Aimi felt her stomach flipped but she ignored it, picking at another blade of grass instead. She didn't like talking about the future. Because despite what Daiki said, she was sure he'd go off to college and meet some girl who was a million times prettier and smarter than her and he'd forget all about her. But she didn't dare mention that to him. He'd only get mad at her for thinking such things. And whenever she talked to Yuuta about it he just calls her an idiot and tells her to tell Daiki how she feels. But doing that would ruin everything. There was no way he'd feel the same. Aimi sighed, lowering her pencil. She was going to skip to the next math problem but the rest of the questions were like the one she was stuck on. Math was stupid. "You'd be good at business." She said, glancing up at Daiki before dropping her pencil and grabbing the soda instead. "You'd be good at anything really." She blushed with the last comment, looking away again. "I mean, because you're really smart..."

"Maybe you should stop observing other people so much and see that you have talents, too." Daiki told her softly. He blushed a bit, suddenly getting embarrassed, "I mean, because, you know, you do-- have skills and even if you're not school-smart there are things that you're good at!" He stumbled, speaking quickly. He took a few calming breaths, readjusting his uniform jacket despite not messing it up in the first place. "Besides, even though I could be good at business, I'm not sure how much I actually want to do it. I like seeing people be happy, but sometimes dealing with customers, especially at work..." His face grew a bit dark as he let out a low groan. "So tiring..."

Aimi pouted, keeping her eyes on the grass, even though she was secretly happy at the small compliment. "You're just saying that." She huffed quietly, still not looking at him. She allowed a small smile and said, "it's because you're so approachable."
"Did you have any appointments in the club today?" She asked, trying to change the subject. It always embarassed her when they talked about school, because even though she knew he was aware of her not being good in school, bringing it up only served to make her feel like there was no chance he'd ever like someone like her. Not that talking about the Host Club was any better. It was just a reminder that there were so many prettier girls than her that she didn't stand a chance.
