Kaori was both nervous and excited for today. Art club usually kept her pretty busy buy sometimes she liked to sneak away and go visit the Host Club. It wasn't often, and she never saw the same person twice in a row but she loved going there anyway. The last time she was there she hadn't known they had a contest going on, but somehow she'd won it. The prize being a date with one of the Host Club members.
She was excited because she had never been on a date before, and going with a host club member for her first date just seemed like the perfect scenerio. And they were going to the aquarium, a place she hadn't been too since she was younger.
The nervousness was due to the fact that she had no idea which of the members she would be going with. They claimed it was funner this way, but she suspected it was only funner for them. Not that she minded, the members were always nice to her to she was sure she'd have a good time either way. But still, not knowing who she'd be meeting was still a little nerve wracking.
Kaori showed up the the aquarium about five minutes early, twirling her hair around her finger as she waited for her date to show up.

Jaaku walked through the doors to the aquarium with a sigh. He was still in his school uniform, though his blazer was unbuttoned and the tie was in his bag. He would've rather worked a twelve hour shift rather than do this, but Daiki insisted, and worse, took his shift and then promised to pay him for financial losses. What with the guy living with his best friend he didn't think Daiki would be able to come through, but after successfully getting permission from their management, Daiki presented him with the cash up front. He supposed with not even half the bills to pay, Daiki had more money because he didn't have to spend as much. He sighed as he saw the girl that had won the contest. He'd seen her around a bit, according to the information the club had, she was a first year. He walked over to her hesitantly, clearing his throat as he got near. "Um.. Oshiro-san, right?" He asked her hesitantly.

Kaori looked up, eyes wide when she heard her name being called. "Ah! Maki-sempai." Of all the people she hadn't expected it to be him. She'd never actually interacted with him, to be honest he kind of intimidated her and she was always too nervous to actually request him. But here they were, on a date. If she thought she were nervous before it was nothing compared to the butterflies in her stomach.
She smiled at him, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "I-I wasn't expecting it to be you." She stammered before her eyes grew wide and her cheeks stained pink. "A-Ah not that it's a bad thing or anything! I-I'm glad it's you. Er, I-I mean..." She trailed off, lowering her eyes. "We should probably go in now." She finally muttered.

Jaaku ruffled his hair as he let Kaoru talk. "Uhh... yeah. Daiki insisted." He began simply. He wasn't sure whether to take her rambling as a compliment or not. Regardless, he began walking into the aquarium, hands still in his pockets. "If you wanted someone else, maybe you should have mentioned it. Still, if you don't want to do this, I'm fine with going home." He said bluntly. Though he did like the aquarium, he hadn't been since he was a little boy. the last time he'd gone, he managed to be the only kid to get bit by the harmless animals. He turned back to make sure Kaori was following him, "but if you want to look around a bit, I'm okay with that too."

"N-No I didn't mean it like that!" Kaori stammered, clearly flustered. She tried to ignore the blush burning her cheeks as she hurried after him, a cute pout on her lips. Her shoes became very fascinating to her as she avoided his eyes. "I-I'm glad it's you." She said in an almost whisper before covering her face in her hands, effectively hiding her blush behind her sleeves. Despite the fact that she never requested him and Jaaku didn't frighten her a bit, Kaori had always been fascinated by the "tsudere prince" of the host club, but could never muster up the courage to actually talk to him. "I haven't been here since I was a little girl. It looks so different."

Jaaku hummed a simple reply, not sure what to make of her comments, so instead he stared intently at a tank of exotic fish, hand covering his mouth. He didn't know what to say, even having been in the host club for almost a year now, he wasn't used to being wanted by anyone. He cleared his throat, looking around the aquarium. "I've never been to this one." He told her honestly.

"Really?" Kaori said, looking at the fish as well. She had her fingers locked behind her back as she tried to focus on the fish and not on the boy next to her. Which was annoyingly hard. Though it helped that she didn't really remember seeing most of these fish from her childhood. "I used to think coming here was the coolest thing ever." She turned around, glad she wasn't stuttering anymore and at least felt a little bit better being around him. "It seemed a lot bigger though, but I guess that's because I was a lot smaller." She commented with a giggle.

Jaaku nodded, but didn't really feel like going into detail. His childhood was a bit more abnormal than most, and despite living on his own underage, the last few years had been the most stable, albeit stressful, years of his life. He looked at the map of the aquarium they had gotten when they got tickets to go in, frowning a bit. The place definitely wasn't small, but comparatively it wasn't large, either. He'd heard about the aquarium in other places, such as Tokyo, or countries boasting the largest ones in the world. "It's not horribly small." He said simply, pointing to a section displaying sea otters. "Actually, I don't really have much time, I'm sorry. But I want to see the otters. I hear they're really cute." He told her bluntly, though a subconscious smile formed at the thought of seeing the otters.

"O-oh. Alright then." Kaori bit her lip, arms going around her waist as she turned away from the fish to look at the brochure he was looking at. She was sure he was genuinely busy, and not just looking for an excuse to get away from her. Though she wouldn't be too surprised if that were the case. He didn't seem to pleased to be here. Kaori forced a light smile, trying not to let it bother her and began in the direction of the otters. "I've never seen them in person before."

Jaaku remained quiet for most of the walk to the otter pen, finally speaking after checking his phone for the time again. "It's nothing you did. I'll even make it up to you some day, maybe on a weekend, I'll bring you back here or something. But I misjudged how long the ride here would be, and I promised my dog I'd actually be home on time to feed him a proper dinner today, and give him a proper walk." He told her honestly, biting his lip a bit, "I don't want to go back on my promise to him. He gets so few proper walks during the week, he'll probably think it's his birthday." He joked lightly, a half-smile forming at the thought of his dog. As they got to the otter pen, he stepped up to the glass, almost exactly mimicking a little kid next to him as he pressed his hands and face up against it to see inside better, before looking back to Kaori. "They're playing." He said, pulling her towards the glass and pointing to the far corner. "Look."

His reassurance helped a bit, but Kaori couldn't help but ask, "you have a dog?" Nothing else he said seemed to stick, she was too surprised at the fact that he had a pet. He didn't really seem like the type of person to willingly own an animal, but then again Kaori knew next to nothing about him. She smiled a bit, nodding. "I understand. You've known your dog a lot longer than me." Her smile widened when they reached their destination and Jaaku went over to the glass. She wasn't expecting him to pull her next to him and it took her a second to turn her focus back to the otters. "Oh how cute~" She squealed softly when she saw them, this time her hands going to press against the glass.

Jaaku waited until she was distracted with the otters before pulling out his phone, taking a couple pictures of the otters before realizing he couldn't get a very good shot without the flash, and with a frown searched for a picture of his dog instead. He found one, the fluffy white dog laying on his back with his tongue sticking out playfully. He tapped Kaori's shoulder lightly. "His name is Houki." He said simply.

Kaori jumped a bit when Jaaku tapped her shoulder, turning to look at the picture on his phone. She smiled when she saw the dog, a soft "aww" escaping her. That was definitely not the type of dog she would have expected him to have, and it just only served to confuse her further, and somehow made her want to get to know him more. "He's so cute. He looks really cuddly." She hummed lightly before looking back at the pamphlet. "Were there any other animals you wanted to see?"
